The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) is the leading independent testing and certification resource for dog training and behavior professionals. They set the global standard for the development of rigorous exams to demonstrate mastery of humane, science-based dog training practices. They are a private, not-for-profit organization. Trainers must complete 300+ hours of training prior to sitting for the certification exam.

Founded in 1998 by Mr. Steven Appelbaum, Animal Behavior College is a national US certification program for dog trainers. Study includes learning theory, training fundamentals, safety, shelter practicum and an externship with a local ABC mentor trainer.

The Association of Professional Dog Trainers is a national membership organization.  The APDT was founded in 1993 by Ian Dunbar, PhD, BVetMed, MRCVS.  APDT offers its 5,000+ members continuing education opportunities and support for those in the pet industry.
